The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) will meet Wednesday afternoon to go over the reported blood clot events associated with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The events are an unusual form of blood clot, accompanied by low platelet counts. Among the likely outcomes is a revised guidance document for physicians and pharmacists that alerts them to this risk so that they are prepared to provide the correct treatment, if necessary.
The committee will hear from CDC staff, representatives of Johnson & Johnson and members of the public before making its recommendations. The meeting is public and will be live-streamed on the CDC website and other channels.
